Looking for a little more up upscale resort with great amenities and a calm beach for your family? Look no further than the all-inclusive Moon Palace Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Location
Moon Palace Resort is an hour and a half drive from the Ocho Rios airport, which you can arrange with the hotel for $45 round trip per person. Nestled on a half-moon bay along with a handful of other resorts, this place feels almost exclusive and not like your typical miles of beach front resorts. The bay is also used by cruise lines such as Carnival, Norwegian, and Holland, which may sound like the port is overcrowded but that wasn’t the case during our stay at all. In my opinion, the cruises coming into the bay made for pretty views and pictures.
Dining
Momo
Dinner 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm
A formal dining that offers sushi, Thai, Chinese, and the hibachi grill. Sadly, my little family did not have the chance to experience our food cook in front of us but if you’re wanting entertainment during dinner with your cook, Momo has it.
Jerk Hut
Lunch 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm | Dinner 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Hands down, this was my favorite spot for lunch and dinner. Casual and by the beach. Can’t get any better than this. The chicken jerk will have you keep coming back for more. The best foods are the least visually appealing, so don’t be afraid.
Pier 8
Breakfast 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm | Lunch 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm | Dinner 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
This open-air restaurant serves steak, seafood, and Jamaican flares. Breakfast offers traditional Jamaican food with American options. Lunch offers
Accommodation
I opted for the Deluxe Ocean View room, which is two grades above the standard and totally worth if you’re a person that loves waking up to a great view. If you don’t care and rather save, the standard room with no balcony is just as great.
With 300 square feet of space, the room was more than spacious for my family of three. Our room was fully stocked with water, soda, Red Stripe, standard liquor, and 24-hour room service. Bathroom was large, modern, and had marble countertops. The resort uses white linens for bedding, and the same all-inclusive service whether you’re in a suite or standard room.
